HomeLink – Family & Life
HomeLink processes data needed to provide user-selected functions, secure accounts, operate infrastructure and comply with law. HomeLink does not sell personal location data, does not use family location for behavioral advertising, and does not design family location to be public outside a Household. Necessary disclosures to service processors are described accurately rather than claiming that data is never shared with any third party.
Depending on usage, HomeLink may process: email, name, display name, account/user IDs and authentication data; Household membership and roles; in-app messages; photos, videos, voice/audio and documents; calendar, chores, shopping, meals, recipes, polls, memories and letters; user-entered family finance data; precise/approximate location, timestamps, accuracy and safe-place events when enabled; push tokens, device session and security/diagnostic metadata; and purchase identifiers, product IDs, subscription state and expiry data supplied by the app store; and minimal consent evidence such as the Terms/Privacy version, server acceptance time, and hashed technical metadata needed to demonstrate the consent/safety flow, not for advertising profiling.
HomeLink does not need to receive a user's full card number, CVV or bank credentials used by Google Play/App Store.
Data is used for account access and security, Household synchronization, chat and media, scheduling and household coordination, location sharing and safe-place/trip features, notifications, subscription verification, abuse prevention, backup/restore, troubleshooting, reliability and legal compliance.
HomeLink requests location only when a user chooses a location feature. “While using the App” processes location while HomeLink is in use. “Always share” may process location in the background, when the App is not in use, or when the App is closed to maintain family location sharing, safe-place arrival/departure alerts and enabled trip-safety functions. Before requesting background permission, the App must show a prominent disclosure explaining what is accessed, why, and who can see it. Users can disable sharing or revoke Android/iOS permissions at any time. When sharing is turned off, HomeLink must stop the applicable background-location/geofence flow as permitted by the operating system and technical state.
HomeLink may use infrastructure providers for servers, databases and object storage; Firebase/Expo or similar push infrastructure; Google Maps SDK for map rendering; Google Play/App Store for purchase processing and verification; email providers; and security/monitoring providers. Providers are expected to process data only for agreed service purposes and under appropriate safeguards. Data may also be disclosed when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect users, systems and legal rights. HomeLink does not sell personal data.
Content that a user deliberately shares within a Household is made available to members with the relevant permissions. HomeLink can enforce server-side access controls but cannot retract a copy after an authorized member has downloaded, screenshotted, copied, or re-shared it outside HomeLink. Users should review Household membership and permissions before sharing sensitive information.
HomeLink uses reasonable safeguards such as TLS/HTTPS, Household and role authorization, server-side purchase verification, protection/encryption of sensitive tokens, time-limited media access URLs, access controls and security logging. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Account and user-saved content is retained as needed to provide the Service or until deleted under product controls. Under the current configuration, location history and safe-place enter/exit events are retained for up to approximately 2 days on Free, 14 days on Basic, and 60 days on Premium, with scheduled server pruning. Trash recovery windows are approximately 7/30/90 days for Free/Basic/Premium, unless permanently deleted earlier where the product allows. Material future changes must be reflected in the App and policy. Technical backups may remain briefly until overwritten or deleted on the normal backup cycle. Security, anti-fraud, accounting or legally required records may be retained longer only for a legitimate purpose and with restricted use.
Users can initiate deletion in the App and at https://homelink.jsofy.com/en/delete-account. After a valid request is completed, HomeLink will delete or de-identify personal data linked to the account as required by Google Play and applicable law, including authentication data and personal location history, except data that must lawfully be retained for security, fraud prevention, accounting or legal obligations.
For content previously shared into a multi-member Household, HomeLink must implement deletion, de-identification or unlinking that complies with deletion requirements without unintentionally deleting independent data belonging to other members. Additional deletion requests can be sent to homelink.app.support@gmail.com.
Depending on applicable law, users may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; obtain a copy of data; and complain to a data-protection authority. Withdrawing a permission may disable related features. Withdrawal does not retroactively invalidate processing that was lawful before withdrawal where applicable law permits, and it does not prevent processing supported by another lawful basis allowed by law.
Where data is processed outside the user's country, HomeLink will use safeguards required by applicable law and select providers with appropriate security measures.
We may update this Policy when features, providers or legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated as required by law and platform rules and, where required, HomeLink will request fresh acceptance of the updated Terms/Privacy version rather than relying on older consent.
